I don’t know why, and I have never understood it.
When it comes to the makeover of their homes ‘many people’ forget about changing their bedrooms too.
I have visited my aunty’s place more than twice and guess what? Every time I visit I find new furniture in her dining room, in her lounge room, in her kitchen but never in her bedroom. I have never gained the courage to ask her why she doesn’t buy new bedroom furniture because my aunty is ‘that type’. I guess you know it when I mean ‘that type’.
Perhaps after this blog post, I will gain the courage and ask (over the phone obviously)why she doesn’t change her bedroom furniture and setup.
The definition of ‘Revolutionize Your Bedroom’
Revolutionizing your bedroom looks doesn’t only mean buying new furniture, it means changing the layout of your bedroom furniture, removing old stuff (worn-out mattress, old gadgets), adding new colors, and many more.
I have compiled 6 ways to change your bedroom even under a tight budget.
Let’s take a look at them.
Add a rug
A rug is the fastest way to update a space. It can instantly elevate your look from drab to fab, and it’s a great way to make a bold statement in your room. It’s also a great way to bring color and pattern into your bedroom without making any permanent changes.
Depending on the style of your room, choose a rug that’s not too bright or too dark. To tie together different parts of your room, choose a rug that matches the dominant color in your room, then choose another color that’s also present in your room, but not as dominant.
Tips: If you have a modern style, choose a rug in a neutral color. If you have a rustic, traditional, or country style, choose a rug in a bold color and pattern. If you have a contemporary style, choose a rug with a geometric pattern that’s not too loud. And if you’re going for a more minimalist, modern look, try a black or white rug.
Paint Your walls
A study conducted by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that people who were exposed to powerful colors like red were more likely to behave in a dominant, powerful manner. The color makes you feel more alert and focused.
However, to change the look and feel of your bedroom in an instant, simply repaint your bedroom walls with a different color.
While some may disagree, the color of the walls in your bedroom is a big deal. It can change the way you feel about your bedroom and it can change the way you sleep at night. The color of the walls can affect your circadian rhythm and, therefore, the quality of the rest you get at night.
- A bold blue paint color makes the ceiling and the bed stand out more and makes the room feel more spacious.
- You can also paint your bedroom walls with a calming color like seafoam green. It’s calming and makes for a great sleeping environment.
- Or orange. Which is generally considered warm and welcoming.
- Red creates a warm and vibrant atmosphere.
Add some art to your wall
If your bedroom is a reflection of your style, then the easiest way to make it define you is to bring some art into your bedroom. Pick an inexpensive framed poster or print it at a local craft store and hang it on your wall.
Wall art is a great way to make a statement in your bedroom and the right piece can set the mood and tone for the entire room.
You can do a simple DIY with some photos, or even better, commission a local artist to create something really unique.
Tips: The human brain is wired to respond to art. Art is a reflection of who we are and what we’re feeling. It’s a reflection of our deepest emotions. Art stimulates our brains to create new neural pathways and helps us to think more creatively.
Buy New Bedding
New bedding is the best way to revitalize your bedroom. It’s a great way to add a little luxury to your life, and it’s also a great way to get a refreshing start to your day. If you’re in the mood for a little DIY project, you can also learn how to make your own bedding.
Experiment with different tones, patterns, and fabrics. If you have a plain white duvet, get one in a bolder color like red, orange, or yellow.
- Your bed is a blank canvas that can transform the appearance of your bedroom.
- A new bedspread can set the tone for the rest of your bedroom.
- Don’t forget your bed frame, mattress, and pillows!
Spice Up Your Bedroom layout
To change the layout of your bedroom, you should start by moving furniture around. It’s a good idea to keep the things you use close to your bed. For example, if you do your make-up every day, it should be placed within arm’s reach of your bed.
If you’ve got a big bed or a king-size bed, then move the bed towards the center of the room.
Lighting is one of the most important elements of any bedroom design.
Adding light to your bedroom will make it look bigger and brighter. It can make or break the style of your bedroom and is a crucial consideration when it comes to the style of the bedroom. The right lighting can help create a romantic vibe or can help your bedroom look minimal and clean.
Lights can be added to the ceiling, put on the wall, or even attached to a piece of furniture.
If you have a windowless bedroom, consider installing a chandelier or a pendant light over your bed. If you have a lot of natural light in your bedroom, consider adding a mirror to reflect the light.
Tip: There are a few different lighting options that you can choose from to help you get the perfect lighting for your bedroom. For instance, you can choose from floor lamps or table lamps.
